Day 4: Humility in BELONGING
Another area the Happiness Test measures is SENSE OF BELONGING. Our actions reveal that most people desire to belong to someone or a group. An attitude of belonging is your mindset about gaining acceptance, attention, and support from people and groups you interact with.

When my husband received an offer to relocate us to Kuwait for a job opportunity years ago, one of the first things that I thought about was if I would experience a sense of belonging there. I knew very little about the Middle East or expats who lived there. As a result, my attitude was focused on my need to belong. My mindset was that it would be too difficult for me to become affiliated and accepted by the people there due to our cultural and spiritual differences.
I was also concerned that I would lose my existing connections with family and friends and become isolated. During this experience, God showed how I put my desire to have caring and loving relationships and activate my “feel good” hormones before Him and others.
We need to humble ourselves to shift our attitudes about the Sense of Belonging.

As believers, we have to remember that we belong to God and God alone. Whether we live in the north, south, east, or west of the world, our attitudes should be confident in the Holy Spirit that lives inside each of us. He will bind us together because we have humility in the sense of belonging.
I write this from my balcony in Kuwait overlooking the beautiful Persian Gulf, I am a testimony of what God can do when we transform our attitudes.

God will allow us to have an accurate perception of our relationships and the world when we humble ourselves.
